Board Members

  • Detty Kastubi Aziz

    Detty is a traditional Indonesian dance artist specializing in West Javanese art. She works at the Bank of New York as a Financial Reporting Specialist and currently serves as the Board Chair of Gapura.

  • James Onofrio

    James is a member of the Neighborhood Ecobomic Development team at the City of Philadelphia's Department of Commerce. He has a passion for working with communities and grassroots organizations to create places for people to thrive in all walks of life. James is a member of Gamelan Gita Santi, enjoys Indonesian food and arts, and travels to Indonesia regularly.

  • Toni Shapiro-Phim

    Toni Shapiro-Phim is Director of the Program in Peacebuilding and the Arts, and Professor of Creativity, the Arts, and Social Transformation at Brandeis University, with a focus on migration (refugees, immigration, diaspora), gender, the arts, and social justice efforts in the face of violence and oppression. Before moving to Massachusetts she worked for many years with the Philadelphia Folklore Project, engaging with diverse local communities. 

  • Annisa Fajriani

    Annisa is the newest board member of Gapura, is a physician of Javanese–Acehnese heritage committed to community health and empowerment. Annisa assisted Gapura and led the organization's marketing strategies, conducted "Know Your Rights" trainings, and supported the local Indonesian community as an interpreter. She is currently based in Cambridge and pursuing a master’s in Global Health Delivery at Harvard University.
